Term 4 in Year 5
This term Year 5 are studying Ancient Rome in HSIE. We willexamine the many ways the ancient Romans have influenced our present ideas andinstitutions. The students will have the opportunity to investigate topics ofinterest such as Roman clothing, food, religious customs and government.
In Science and Technology, our class will be involved ininvestigating various fabrics. This topic is entitled Fibres and Fabrics andwill involve the use of scientific techniques to determine the nature ofvarious materials. The students will have a special design task to complementtheir studies.
Last term, we had a very exciting visit to Cadia Mine. Thiswas a fitting conclusion to our unit on Gold and involved dressing-up inprotective clothing ( an exciting event in itself!). Many of our students cameaway with samples, but ever so small.
Cuddly Visitors in Year 5
This week we had some very cute and cuddlyvisitors in our class (apart from Mr Hines !). Lily McClelland's mother (Min) very kindly brought in two special pups, Max and Woody to see the students. They wereaccompanied by their mum, Tilly, who kept a very close eye on proceedings.Our thanks to Lily and Mrs McClelland for a very enjoyable visit.
