SportSport at ASC is a feature of student life in which participation and effort are expected and rewarded. The College has wonderful ovals, a gym and pool which are regularly used in the PE and sport programme. Students are coached by staff members and the experience helps to develop the close community which characterises the College. The team sports for both boys and girls are very popular. Boys play Rugby, Basketball, Tennis, Cricket, Volleyball, Football and, the fastest growing one of all, Waterpolo. Girls play Basketball, Cricket, Waterpolo, Touch Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Football, Hockey, and they are a dominant force in the local Netball competitions. Students are regularly selected for representative teams in Western Associated Schools (WAS), Independent Schools Association (ISA), Associated Independent Co-Educational Schools (AICES), NSW Combined Independent Schools (CIS) and NSW All Schools. A clear path to representation is available. Scott Staniforth is one old boy who has gone on to huge success in the sport he loves. Currently playing Super 14 Rugby, Scott has also played for the Waratahs and toured with the Wallabies. A number of current ASC students are also achieving outstanding sporting results. Emma Statham competes in the Pan Pacific and National Athletics competitions. Emma recently had the honour of being Captain of the NSW All Schools Cross Country Team. She holds eight Gold Medals in National Cross Country. Chantal (Year 8) and Reece (Year 11) Hodson compete in State and Australian Golf Tournaments with outstanding results. |
