At All Saints' College Bathurst music forms an integral part of the curriculum for all students from Transition to Year 8. The approach is based on the development of musical skills, particularly the practical, so all students in Years 3-8 are involved in the study of a musical instrument. From Year 9 through to Year 12 music is offered as an elective subject for both the School Certificate and the Higher School Certificate. It is also possible to pursue music studies outside the formal classroom through individual tuition and/or involvement in the extensive co-curricular programme.

The facilities vary from the small teaching studio, tailored to the teaching of students in a one-to-one situation, to the large space suitable for ensemble rehearsal.

Students have the opportunity to perform within choirs, orchestras (symphony, chamber and string), bands (concert and jazz) as well as smaller ensembles.  Students also form contemporary rock and jazz bands to perform at 'The Big Night Out', the House Music Festival and other musical evenings.  Many write and perform their own songs.

Our philosophy is based on the idea that no education is complete without exposure to quality musical experiences. Music is fundamental to the creative, intellectual and emotional development of all children. The actual practice of music can engage the imagination, foster flexible ways of thinking, develop disciplined effort and build self confidence.
