  • Year 12 Geography Fieldwork Trip to Sydney

    13 March, 2018

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 4th, 5th and 6th of February, 2018, Year 12 Geography conducted fieldwork in Sydney as part of their studies of Urban Dynamics (Urban change over time).

Students traveled down to the “Big Smoke’ by train and stayed at the Sydney Harbour Youth Hostel at The Rocks.

Students took part in a guided tour of redevelopment on the Pyrmont Peninsula as well as an inner city bus and Sydney harbour ferry ride.

The inner city bus tour included suburbs such as Balmain, Leichardt, Redfern, Glebe Bondi Junction, Bondi Beach, Dover Heights, Kings Cross, Darlinghurst and Wooloomooloo.

Students made regular stops on this tour to examine specific aspects of the urban geography of these suburbs.

Students’ understanding of Urban Dynamics was greatly enhanced by this enrichment opportunity. The students will be preparing an HSC assessment task on their fieldwork.

Thank you to the parents of Year 12 for their financial support of this trip. Special thanks to Mrs Sarah O’Neill for her invaluable help and support on our excursion.

The students are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and good behavior. Thank you all for a very positive, worthwhile and enjoyable learning experience.

Mr Wayne Feebrey (Head of HSIE)
