  • Remembrance Day 2017

    23 November, 2017

On Thursday November 9 the whole College gathered to Remember the cessation of the Great War.

The set date is 11th of November which is a Saturday but as we had excursions on the Friday we gathered a day early.

It is 99 years since the 1918 Armistice.

Many former students from All Saints' College enlisted and 39 did not return. So it is important for us to remember their sacrifice. At each Remembrance service we read the names of these 39 and this was done by Georgia Poole and Ella Lewis.

The Service was held on the lawns which face the Chapel, under the shade of the Plane trees and every prefect had a job to do.

The address was given by Mr David Mills, the President of the Bathurst RSL Sub Branch.

Our Chamber Orchestra led two hymns: Eternal Father strong to save and Advance Australia Fair. The Last Post and Reveille was hauntingly delivered by Emma Russell and the Ode spoken by Dougal Murphy.

On the last two Europe Tours (2013 and 2016) our groups have held a service of remembrance at the Villieux Brettoneaux Memorial in northern France.

Each time we have found the names of two brothers, Alex and Harold Bruford from this College who died in the conflict. Bethany McCumstie and Ruby Woodlock read a poem from the War composed by Harold Bruford.

The National Flag was raised and two wreaths were laid.

Thanks you to all who made their contribution to this occasion.

    We will remember them.

    Father Paul Woodhart
