• Head of Senior School Message Wk 09 Term 4

    7 December, 2017

I have just been informed by Mrs O'Neill that Year 10 student Hannah McCarthy has been chosen to attend the United Nations Youth Pacific Project in 2018.

Pacific Project is a year-long initiative open to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 from around Australia.

Only 12 young leaders are chosen for the project, so it is an amazing achievement for Hannah to be selected!

This is an exciting opportunity to embark on a two-week tour of East Timor exploring the complex realities of development in one of our closest neighbours.

Pacific Project centres around an unforgettable 2-week tour of East Timor during the July holidays.

Hannah will hold some fundraising initiatives in 1st and 2nd term next year to assist with projects to be undertaken while in East Timor.

She will also continue her philanthropy upon her return to Australia by raising funds with the other delegates to support the projects developed while on tour.

As part of the Pacific Project, students learn about sustainable development and the challenges of international aid.

They also spend time working with local communities and grassroots organisations, including working closely with the partner school in Maliana, Encouragement House.

    Congratulations Hannah!

I hope the school community gets behind Hannah and supports this very worthwhile initiative.

Congratulations to Charles O’Neill, Yr 11, who has made it to the final three for this award which recognises outstanding young people in our region.

The award comprises media recognition and a cash prize to be applied to the furthering of the winner’s artistic endeavours. These will be presented as part of the Bathurst Australia Day celebrations.

As this is the final newsletter for the year I would like to thank Mr Anderson for his hard work in producing this excellent publication and Mrs Wade who proofreads my articles.

A lot more work goes into this than many know.

May I wish the All Saints’ community a Merry Christmas, a healthy and prosperous New Year and a restful and relaxing holiday break.

Classes commence on Wednesday 31 January 2018 with existing boarders returning late on Tuesday 30 January 2018.

New boarders will arrive a day earlier on Monday 29 January 2018.

The school’s administration department will shut down for the Christmas / New Year break from Thursday 21 December 2017 to Friday 5 January 2018.
