The 2012 Festival of Art can only be described as a terrific success and a credit to all the kind volunteers from the school and community who lent a hand. There was an atmosphere of excitement on Opening Night as there were many new artists exhibiting.
Tim Storrier gave a talk on his Archibald prize winning portrait and kindly donated a signed, framed copy to the Festival, which was auctioned. The crowd was enthralled as the auctioneer coaxed our very generous bidders ever higher; we even had the little dog from the portrait on stage to help!
The Junior School Art Project looked amazing as every child in the junior school exhibited a framed art work, the walls of the Bickerdike were a mass of colour and design. WIN News and the Western Advocate were on hand to record the fun and the Bickerdike was transformed by the addition of the Library's funky lounges and some beautiful flowers.
There are too many people for the Committee to thank in this small space but we are very, very grateful to all our helpers and will be sending out a personal thank you to everyone very soon. At this early stage it looks as if the P&F Festival of Art has raised a considerable amount for the the school and highlighted the depth of the artistic talent in the school and community.
