  • Evatt NSW Semi-Finals

    15 June, 2017

On Saturday 17 June, Year 11 students Gabrielle Burge, Victoria Westenfelder, Declan Duncan-Keen and Charles O’Neill will participate in the Evatt NSW Semi-Finals, to be held at the University of Sydney Law School.

The two teams were selected by a panel of judges from United Nations Youth when they participated in the regional round held at All Saints’ College earlier this term.

Standards were particularly high this year so it is an amazing achievement to have two teams selected in the top 30 teams from across NSW.

The competition takes the form of a mock session of the UN Security Council.

Teams of two students debate, amend, and vote on prepared resolutions from the perspective of their assigned nation.

Gabrielle and Victoria will represent Ethiopia and Declan and Charles have been assigned to represent Italy.

The aim of a team in an Evatt competition is simple: achieve your nation’s goals through diplomacy.

I am sure all the students will gain a lot from this fantastic experience and wish them the very best as they prepare for the semi-finals on Saturday.

    Mrs Sarah O’Neill
