All Saints' began the new season with an away win against St Pius in the first round of the ISA 2nd Division Competition.
This match was played with a very young side including six debutants.
All Saints won the toss and sent opposition in. Max Hope took four early wickets to have St Pius in trouble at 6/26.
Cameron Watt applied pressure at the other end without luck. An unfortunate series of dropped catches let St Pius back into the match for a final tally of 131 off 41 overs.
Max Hope finished with 5/19 off 10 overs including two caught and bowled efforts, well supported by Bill Hurley 2/4 and Innes Smith also with two wickets in an impressive debut.
All Saints' lost two early wickets in the chase, but a steadying partnership between Hope (48) and Bill Hurley (37) put All Saints' back in control, finishing their 50 overs at 9/181. Year 7 student Michael Waldren impressed on debut with 20 not out.
Round 2 is away again at St Pats Strathfield who had a comfortable win against Chevalier in Round 1.
