  • All Saints' 1st XI vs St Pius

    28 October, 2009

All Saints' began the new season with an away win against St Pius in the first round of the ISA 2nd Division Competition.

This match was played with a very young side including six debutants.
All Saints won the toss and sent opposition in. Max Hope took four early wickets to have St Pius in trouble at 6/26.

Cameron Watt applied pressure at the other end without luck. An unfortunate series of dropped catches let St Pius back into the match for a final tally of 131 off 41 overs.

Max Hope finished with 5/19 off 10 overs including two caught and bowled efforts, well supported by Bill Hurley 2/4 and Innes Smith also with two wickets in an impressive debut.

All Saints' lost two early wickets in the chase, but a steadying partnership between Hope (48) and Bill Hurley (37) put All Saints' back in control, finishing their 50 overs at 9/181. Year 7 student Michael Waldren impressed on debut with 20 not out.

Round 2 is away again at St Pats Strathfield who had a comfortable win against Chevalier in Round 1.
